A Less Than Uplifting Post Today...

Hello.

Whenever I see Christmas trees discarded in people's yards after the holiday season, it reminds me of the following exchange from "Fight Club" :

Marla Singer: I got this dress at a thrift store for one dollar.
Narrator: It was worth every penny.
Marla Singer: It's a bridesmaid's dress. Someone loved it intensely for one day, and then tossed it. Like a Christmas tree. So special. Then, bam, it's on the side of the road.
[Grabs Narrator's crotch]
Marla Singer: Tinsel still clinging to it. Like a sex crime victim. Underwear inside out. Bound with electrical tape.
Narrator: Well, then it suits you.
Marla Singer: You can borrow it sometime.

...and then I feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

In other news, it would seem that Oprah's little sweetheart James Frey wasn't telling the truth after all...See the link: 'Inspiring' story crumbles into a million little pieces.

Anyway, "Lost" was pretty good...but I can't help but feel that it's going to be disappointing in the end...We'll see. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

That's all I got right now.

Take it easy out there.

Your Pal,

Zambo.

Hi Nicki!

I hope that all is well today.

I would have to agree with you on "Fight Club".
That's how I gauge people's taste in movies...For instance, someone will rave about a film...Then I'll ask "What did you think of "Fight Club"? Their answer greatly influences future conversations about movies.

Rumour has it that a few of Chuck's books are being developed for the big screen.

I'm looking forward to seeing them. I always pre-order his books and then rip through them...

Do you have a favourite?

Anyway, I'd better get back to work here, I suppose.

Talk to you later.

Your Pal,

Zambo.

Dead Christmas trees on the sidewalk are akin to cute little furry animal carcasses if you ask me. Such a waste.

Anyway, I saw the opening of Lost last night. (I don't have a tv--hey! That's something most people don't know about me. I'm not into tv.) And I was totally reeled in. But then the doctor called me in so she could see my infected tonsils, so I didn't get to see any of it. I am intrigued though.

Hi Gang.

8th Dwarf:
The book is really good...but the film is slightly better, in my opinion...great visuals, solid performances and David Fincher rules. His other books, "Invisible Monsters" and "Choke" are my favs..."Haunted" has some great stories in it too...

Keeks:
You raise an interesting point...But it ruins the simile if people dislike the tree, then toss it...How do you feel about Marla's other line?
"A condom is the glass slipper for our generation. You slip one on when you meet a stranger. You dance all night, and then you throw it away. The condom, I mean, not the stranger."

S*:
Sorry to hear about the tonsils...(I still have mine too)...I wish I wasn't so mesmerized by TV...but it has been so good to me over the years...

"The Daily Show" just featured Gleek (the Wonder Twins' monkey) for a few minutes!

Good night and good luck, my friends.

Your Pal,

Zambo.

Hi Keeks.

You really took that apart, huh?

Perhaps Marla represents the princess and the slipper...and the condom-covered penis is the foot (though often less than a foot)...and she has gone through several feet, but keeps discarding the "dongs" that won't fit...

Hey Nicki.

Though I've heard a lot of good things about Coupland's work..."Girlfriend in a Coma"..."Eleanor Rigby"...I have yet to read any of it...I think a friend mentioned that Coupland was in Guelph fairly recently...Did you see him if/when he was there?

We'll talk again later...

Lots of timelines to meet here in the bunker...

Have a great weekend!

Your Pal,

Zambo.
